Sensitivity of predicted stresses in thick‐walled steel/ceramics spherical FGM‐structures to parameter uncertainties

The effects of both material data uncertainties the constituents and volume fraction deviations from design values caused by manufacturing process on forecasted stresses in a spherical container functionally graded (FGM) are investigated. Specifically, steel/alumina hollow sphere subject to internal pressure homogeneous heating is studied. It shown that even moderate may cause large expectation ranges von Mises equivalent stresses, this issue yet predominate over question for most reasonable homogenization scheme(s).
